    (ANSAmed) - MADRID, NOVEMBER 21 - Fostering employment and investment in the sector is the aim of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Stakeholder Conference on Blue Economy regional, to be held November 29-30 in Naples.

    The international event will be held at the Excelsior hotel with over 300 participants, government representatives, regional and local authorities, international organizations, agencies for international development, universities, private bodies and civil society representatives of the Euro-Mediterranean area that are linked to marine issues, UfM sources noted.

    Two other events will be held in parallel. The first will be a high-level session with the EU Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Commissioner Karmenu Vella and UfM Secretary General Fathallah Sijilmassi that will end with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UfM and FAO General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) and the second will be an informal ministerial meeting of Western Mediterranean countries, in which Italy's infrastructure and transportation minister, Graziano Delrio, for the official launch of the Initiative for Sustainable Development of the Maritime Economy of the Western Mediterranean.
